About Me

I am so glad you are here as it takes a great deal of courage to seek help! My journey to become a counselor began at the end of my high school years. Throughout years of repressing my own thoughts and feelings and more of what life can throw at you, that was a weight I was not able to handle anymore. I reached out for counseling soon after, and a few months into counseling myself, I recognized my calling to this profession. From then, I went on to obtain a Bachelor's Science in Psychology from Emporia State University and am currently working on my Masters of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Colorado Christian University. My hope as a counselor is that I am able to provide my clients with the same environment that others provided me; that is a welcoming, healing, supportive, encouraging, and safe space. 

My techniques are based around Psychodynamic and Postmodern theories which means that I will help provide you the tools and skills to become more self-aware and reflect on your thoughts, actions, feelings, etc. In addition to that, these theories place emphasis on being solution-focused. While we want to identify any problems or difficulties in the client’s life, we also want to be mindful that we don’t stay in a problem or negative mindset for too long. We can look to the problem to explain and give us insight for how to come up with a solution. Along with those theories, I incorporate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and mindfulness throughout the sessions. ACT focuses on the present moment and accepting one’s thoughts and feelings without judgement. At the foundation of myself and any technique I use is my Christian faith. While my faith is at the core of my being, it is up to the client to decide what level of faith integration they want in their sessions.
