ABOUT ME

Hi there! I'm so glad you stopped by to read more about me.

I graduated from Drake University with my Masters of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in the spring of 2018. Before attending graduate school, I received my Bachelor's of Science in Psychology from Iowa State University (ISU) in 2013. After graduating from ISU, I worked in a residential setting for adolescents needing more intensive care before returning home to their families. While working on my Master’s, I spent four years working in case management helping children, adolescents and families in the non–profit setting. In 2018 I finished completing my play therapy certificate and became a Registered Play Therapist in December 2023.

Becoming an adolescent-focused therapist was really sparked by having struggled with anxiety myself throughout middle and high school, even into my early adulthood. Finding hope in talking with my counselor at a young age helped me see that anxiety was not in control of my life. I’m thankful for my own experiences, which allows me to connect with and validate each client's experiences.

For the last five years, I have been working in the private practice realm, alongside leading groups one to two days a week with Renew’s Two Tents IOP program. Each day I love to connect with individuals and families to help them navigate the day-to-day challenges they are struggling with.

I work to build a safe and secure therapeutic relationship with every client. As a counselor, I believe it is my job to provide interventions and techniques for clients to be able to make those changes by taking on specific evidence-based therapeutic interventions, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), play therapy, and more.

Most recently I became a board-approved supervisor for LPC's in Kansas. My goal as a clinical supervisor is to support young clinicians as they become more confident in themselves and their clinical practice. I offer individual and group supervision options.

My free time consists of spending time with my husband and two toddlers, alongside our two golden retrievers, Henry and Emma. I love cheering on Iowa State and the Chiefs. This year, I’m trying my skills out in Fantasy Football. If you can't find me at the office, I'm likely hiding out at the lake, sipping a cup of iced coffee.
