ABOUT ME
"I don’t believe in trying to fit in; I believe in standing out and owning who I am." - Megan Fox
Authenticity, integrity, and compassion are my three values I use as my guiding light as a developing counselor and ever evolving human. By staying true to these values I utilize them to help clients recognize the connection between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. I am especially drawn to helping clients navigate self-image concerns, empowering them to see their worth and embrace their strengths. I hold the belief that since we only have one body and mind, learning to embrace ourselves is one of the most powerful gifts we can give to our wellbeing. Because I was introduced to the impact of self-image and its many influences early in life, I’ve carried a strong passion for helping others in their growth and healing ever since. Now, as I step into this meaningful stage of my career, I am grateful for the opportunity to turn that passion and knowledge into work that can truly support and empower others. When I am not in session you can typically find me with a book, shopping, exploring new music, or hanging with nature and my two kitties (Sam and Coraline)!
My counseling journey started at Kansas State University where I earned my Bachelors of Arts in Psychology and spent a year and half of that as the President of the Psi Chi Honorary Society. I now call Kansas City home and am in the final year of my Master’s in Counseling with a focus on Mental Health at the University of Missouri–Kansas City. Alongside my studies I am a member of UMKC’s Burnout Avoidance and Self Care Committee, where I contribute to fostering wellness and balance for counseling students. Looking forward, my professional goals include becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor and pursuing certification as an Eating Disorder Specialist.
