ABOUT ME

  • I am excited to walk along with you on your journey to well-being! I believe that each person has strengths and resiliency, allowing them to thrive and overcome challenges. I am passionate about helping those who suffer from mental health issues or who are going through a hard season of life. I believe everyone deserves to be supported and valued as the unique person that they are.

I'm a mental health counseling intern committed to helping everyone feel valued, supported, and empowered. My path to mental health counseling started forming when I was in high school. I was able to see first-hand how the stigma about mental health can impact individuals and families. I was also able to witness how powerful therapy can be and how it can instill hope in individuals. I have always wanted to pursue a profession where I can help individuals.

Counseling Intern

MY SPECIALTIES

I am passionate about helping people who are struggling with their mental health. I have experience working with adults who are in clinical distress, cultivating hope, strengths, and healthy goals throughout our time together. I have worked with adolescents and young adults with career counseling as well. One of my goals is to be able to walk with clients as they go through life, facing obstacles, hardships, joys, and achievements, empowering them through it all.

MY TREATMENT APPROACH

My therapeutic approach is based on a holistic, client-centered approach. I pull from multiple theoretical approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Strengths-Based Therapy, and Positive Psychotherapy. You are at the center of your own journey, and I am blessed to be a part of it. I believe you have the power and ability to grow using your strengths to improve your well-being. I value treating others with kindness, love, and respect. I use my Christian faith principles at the center of my interactions with clients. It is up to the client if faith is brought into the therapeutic environment, and I use a multicultural approach to stress the acceptance of individuality.

EDUCATION

  • I graduated with my bachelor's in Psychology and minor in Human Service Counseling from Wayne State College in 2023. I am currently a master's student at the University of Kansas pursuing my degree in counseling psychology. During my undergraduate studies, I worked as a Family Service Specialist, assisting in court-ordered supervised visitations. I supported parents and foster parents as well as young children during this time. I currently work as a crisis counselor for Boys Town National Hotline, helping those who are experiencing crisis. I use my skills of validation, empathy, and unconditional positive regard to meet clients where they are, create goals, and provide them with resources.
